We designed a professional website and logo which communicated that Champagne’s expertise and knowledge of all things “clean.” Somebody looking for a cleaning service in the area will visit Champagne’s website and realize that they don’t rely on toxic chemicals and artificial scents to impress their customers, but that they leave their client’s homes clean and pure.  This has helped to boost Champagne’s clientele, and to establish them as forerunners in the switch to organic cleaning.

We loved the points that were made in this Forbes article, and it made us want to give our take on this topic. Sometimes we get asked really basic questions, such as, “what exactly is digital marketing?” We should know, right? The thing is, this term is a giant umbrella to so many different strategies and concepts, and it grows and flexes every day. The examples we give you of digital marketing today may not be the examples we give you next week. This is the first of three reasons why every company should consider hiring a digital marketing firm versus using an in-house marketing department.

A good digital marketing firm is guaranteed to be industry relevant. It’s their job, it’s what they do. If your company’s marketing department is relying on information that has been cycled around the internet for the past 6 months for their digital marketing strategy, then they are wasting their time and yours.

An outside firm will gauge the strengths and weaknesses of your appeal in a way that you marketing department cannot. Internal marketing departments are focused on getting the message of their company out. A digital marketing firm is able to provide you with all of those, with a uniquely personal approach that you won’t get from the latest site integration apps that everybody else is using.

No matter the size of your company, everything comes down to allocation of resources, and at the end of the day you have to ask yourself if the amount you are spending on in house marketing is giving you the same results that you can get from hiring an external firm.

Adams Morgan Animal Hospital: Just a note: if you are in the business of cute and cuddly pets and you want us to market your business, we will always say “yes”. Always.

Today we just  have to brag a little bit about how much we enjoy working with a long time client of ours, Adams Morgan Animal Hospital. They are a family owned practice who are passionate about taking care of the pets of DC. This is evidenced by their state of the art facilities, and warm and welcoming staff. Their primary challenge is finding a way to connect with a busy, transient population that doesn’t necessarily value their longstanding commitment to the community.

One of the more memorable campaigns that we did for the owner of the hospital was to promote their animal laser therapy services. Who can resist taking a second look at a picture of a cat wearing sunglasses? As we thought, this turned out to be an effective way of getting people to actually visit the hospital. At that point, our job is accomplished, because the quality service that they offer shows from the moment a customer walks through the door.

Maude Hair Salon Sometimes it doesn’t take long to get to know our client’s personalities, and from the moment we walked into Maude Hair Salon, we realized why they were hiring us: their “vanilla” brand didn’t communicate who they were. The owners of Maude are fun loving and edgy, they have a huge board of magnets with inappropriate jokes printed on them, and they aren’t afraid to use bright pink hair dye. it was obvious that they offered a salon experience that set them apart from their competitors, but their plain jane branding wasn’t communicating that to potential customers. We went to work to make sure that it did.

We designed their website, and found a way to integrate a feature so that when a customer posted a picture to social media and used their hashtag, Maude could approve it to be featured on their site with the click of a button. They were prepared to spend much more on this integrated functionality through an app service, and we were pleased to do it for them for much less cost.  This function has proven itself to be an incredibly effective way to encourage customers to post pictures, and of course, to show off their work without continually updating the site themselves. We established their social media presence, and even made a Tumblr,  all to build their online image in the world of beauty blogging, and to showcase their talent.

We enjoyed the opportunity to transform the image of this business into how they wanted to appear to the world, much as they transform their customer’s appearances on a daily basis.

King Pinz/High Rollers Lounge  We will be devoting this blog post, and a few of our future posts, to telling the stories of our clients. As a small marketing firm, we at Crimson Fly always take the time to get to know our clients– what they love about their business, why they do what they do, who they most want to reach. This is a big part of how we craft the perfect marketing strategy for their needs. These posts will not only illustrate that, but they will also illustrate the range of clients that we take on! We love to be creatively challenged, and so we take on all different types of businesses, and design a strategy that uniquely fits them.

It’s always fun to promote a business that is about, well, fun, and so we were excited to help King Pinz get the word out about the opening of their luxury bowling alley and sports grill back in 2011. We designed their initial website and banners and placards for them to use. We did promotional work, like SEO optimization to make sure they popped up in web searches, and social media outreach. This helped them to launch with a strong, well established presence.

Oh, and Dan’s favorite part of working with King Pinz? We did some branding for their adjoined cigar bar “High Rollers Lounge” and it was one of those cases where you can use a picture like this one, and it totally works.
